We got a great opportunity to go on a drive along this river. Enjoyed the terrific views of charming houses on the hillside, castles &…sparrows.
Photos from a very short visit to Leipzig…
Jungfraujoch, one of my favourite places in Switzerland was exhilarating to say the least. While there I visited the Ice Palace, which was super cool…literally too!
The Eispalast or Ice Palace is a terrific experience. After you enter in, the smile on your face gets frozen in time & while you try to oooh & aaah at the novelty of the experience & ice sculptures around you…be careful. You really have to watch your step else you may just slip, fall & find yourself ski-dding all the way down the icy corridors…nothing like a free ski sans the skis 🙂 Don’t go soooo fast that you frip on srippery glound.
Unsolicited advice – make sure your shoes are able to walk you across ice without slipping. For the extra care needed to walk on this surface, I wouldn’t encourage elderly folks to try it.
They were sweet black birds with yellow beaks against a sheer snowy white backdrop. I was seeing these birds for the first time & they were close in appearance to crows, but for their beaks. Found them interesting, as they calmly beheld tourists in the midst of the biting cold. And they had no problem being photographed either.
A bit of Google search indicates they are officially the Alpine Chough & are also known as the Yellow-Billed Chough.

Rewind – few years ago we travelled from Helsinki to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia by the Viking XPRS cruise-ferry. Tallinn is just about 80km away from Helsinki by sea.
The incredible medieval charm of Tallinn Old Town is an experience never to be forgotten. You can spend the entire day just walking through the Old Town. Quaint alleyways with something of history lurking at every turn; streets & buildings with a touch of the medieval; cafés & souvenir stores…it’s simply beautiful!
While in Tallinn, make sure you visit the Olde Hansa, a medieval themed restaurant which will make you feel like you stepped into another era entirely!
Tallinn’s Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tallinn below, through my lens…
Photographs from a visit to Helsinki.
Most of these photos were taken in Suomenlinna, a sea fortress built in the 1700’s when Finland was a part of the Kingdom of Sweden.
Suomenlinna is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Up front & close to history as the pictures will tell.
And the next day…as we left Helsinki on a cruise line heading to Tallinn, Estonia
