What we are doing to the forests of the world is but a mirror reflection of what we are doing to ourselves and to one another.

An environmental enthusiast, I do whatever best I can to play a part in saving the environment & supporting actions for change. It is sobering because the divide between idealism & indifference are played out on a daily basis. It is so easy to get discouraged because it often involves swimming against the tide. Of a people who may have contributed to getting us where we are (me included) but showing apathy & reluctance to change for the better (me excluded).
I do whatever I can for the green cause, be it having trees planted as I get opportunity or raising awareness. All that glitters is very often litter I have learnt.
My deepest respect is for those waste workers who tirelessly slog it out through mountains of trash built by an indifferent society that would rather shift blame than take responsibility for change.
The waste workers job is one of those thankless careers having to deal with man’s innate selfishness. 24/7. I salute those incredible workers who clean & segregate trash. And have not given up.
It is amazing to see what can become of recyclable waste once it is passed on to those creative agents for change, the recycling experts. Photos below are of a handbag made of recycled tetra packs. I picked it up at a recycling event last year & it’s still going strong. Bag perched on tree for a true green effect 🙂
Credit goes to all those folks out there who tirelessly work in this unglamorous profession in different capacities, working for change & playing their part to save the environment.

The earth will not continue to offer its harvest, except with faithful stewardship. We cannot say we love the land and then take steps to destroy it for use by future generations.
~ Pope John Paul II ~
A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself. Forests are the lungs of our land, purifying the air and giving fresh strength to our people.
~ Franklin D. Roosevelt ~
What’s the use of a fine house if you haven’t got a tolerable planet to put it on?
~ Henry David Thoreau ~
To waste, to destroy our natural resources, to skin and exhaust the land instead of using it so as to increase its usefulness, will result in undermining in the days of our children the very prosperity which we ought by right to hand down to them amplified and developed.
~ Theodore Roosevelt ~

I strongly believe in the divine principle that as you sow, you reap.
It scares me to think of the harvest of the future from the abundance of trash & toxins that have been sown into the precious earth.
My prayer is that we will all play our part & make a difference for a cleaner, greener Earth.
